Biology for AP Courses begins with a Preface that describes the course and its features. Instruction is organized in units that begin with a “Chemistry of Life” introduction to biology followed by units covering cells, genetics, evolution, biological diversity, plant structure and function, animal structure and function, and ecology.
Each chapter opens with an outline of content and a brief introduction. Chapters are broken into sections that begin with the key questions explored in the discussion (e.g., “What are metabolic pathways?”) and a “Connection for AP Courses” feature that connects the section’s content to the relevant Big Ideas, Enduring Understandings, and Essential Knowledge included in the College Board’s framework for AP Biology.
