Founder & President
Jacqueline (Jackie) Lain is the founder and president of Learning List, Inc. Ms. Lain formerly served as an Associate Executive Director of the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) and as TASB’s Director of Governmental Relations.
Prior to joining TASB, Ms. Lain was the National Director of Public Affairs for Standard and Poor’s School Evaluation Services division. From 1999-2000, she served as a White House Fellow in the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, where she helped to communicate the Administration’s education policies to state and local elected officials. Ms. Lain then served as Interim Director of the White House Fellows program from 2000-2001.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the UT Law School, Ms. Lain began her career practicing school law at Walsh, Anderson, Brown, Schulze and Aldridge in Austin. She also served as editor of the Texas School Administrator’s Legal Digest, a monthly magazine summarizing state and federal legal opinions that impact Texas school districts.
Director of Editorial Review
Melissa Holt manages Learning List’s editorial review processes. Dr. Holt has more than 25 years’ experience as an educator and administrator in Texas school districts.
Dr. Holt served as the Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction in Georgetown ISD. Prior to assuming that position, she was the Director for Secondary Curriculum and Professional Development in Killeen ISD, an English Language Arts Curriculum Specialist in Corpus Christi ISD, and a campus level administrator in Flour Bluff ISD.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Dr. Holt taught at the elementary and secondary levels, focusing primarily on English Language Arts. Dr. Holt holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Tech University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. She holds a principal certification as well as certifications in elementary education, secondary English Language Arts, gifted and talented, and ESL.
Chief Academic Officer
Jennifer Drumm is Learning List’s Chief Academic Officer and Director of Publisher Relations. For more than 20 years, Ms. Drumm’s career has focused on curriculum, instructional support, and professional development.
For the last nine years, Jennifer served as the Coordinator and Senior Coordinator for Curriculum & Instruction at Education Service Center Region 13 in Texas. Prior to that, Ms. Drumm served as a district Curriculum Director and taught a wide variety of courses at the elementary and middle school levels, including technology, Gifted/Talented, English as a Second Language and Social Studies. She has also taught Master’s level online courses in technology, instruction, and assessment.
Ms. Drumm holds a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas at Brownsville, and a Principal certification.

Learning List is the industry-leading instructional materials review service for schools and districts. Like Consumer Reports®, Learning List is a subscription-based service that provides independent reviews of PK-12 materials to help educators choose and use instructional materials effectively.
Job summary:
Learning List is seeking Texas educators who are subject matter experts (SMEs) to review PreK-12 instructional materials in core content areas and Career and Technical Education.
Summary of essential job functions:
Working in collaboration with Learning List’s Chief Academic Officer, SMEs review the alignment of each instructional material to the content area TEKS. SMEs also complete a rubric and participate in an interview with Learning List’s Director of Editorial Review about the quality of the material’s instructional content.
Education and experience required:
Learning List’s SMEs are experienced, certified educators who meet the following criteria and have prior standards-alignment experience:
Minimum job requirements:
SMEs must have experience with detail-oriented tasks, access to a computer with high-speed Internet connectivity, and simultaneous access to two monitors/screens. Hours are flexible.
Abilities required:
SMEs must possess excellent reading and analytical skills and have considerable experience using online courses or online instructional materials. SMEs must have the ability to work from home, follow written guidance explicitly, and complete each assignment within the specified timeframe.
