GameSalad organizes instruction in units that teach students how to create computer games using GameSalad’s “Creator” user interface. Most units focus on the development of a specific game (e.g., Space Runner, Top-Notch Trivia). Within units, students learn key computer science concepts, such as inputs/outputs, copyright law, universal access, and the applications and impacts of computer science in daily life.

Students create games using a menu-based system that does not require knowledge of coding. Activities require students to apply reasoning skills, logic, and innovative thinking to solve problems. A textbook to accompany GameSalad is available separately from Cengage.
