Bring Science Alive! Exploring Science Practices: A Review of TCI’s K–5 Science Curriculum

Teachers’ Curriculum Institute’s Bring Science Alive! Exploring Science Practices is a comprehensive K–5 science curriculum designed to meet the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The program consistently engages students in three-dimensional science learning by integrating Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs), Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs), and Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs).


Throughout each unit, students are encouraged to think and act like scientists by asking questions, conducting investigations, supporting claims with evidence, and explaining their reasoning. As students progress through the lessons in each unit, they develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to explain the anchoring phenomena in the Performance Assessment at the end of the unit.


Bring Science Alive's Teacher & Student Supports

The K–5 curriculum includes extensive support for diverse learners, including English learners and students receiving special education services. The digital platform provides access to Spanish translations to support English learners. 


Both student and teacher materials are available through the digital platform. The platform's Program Support section provides teachers with a variety of resources for instruction, implementation, differentiation, and assessment. TCI materials also integrate with several learning management systems, including Canvas, Schoology, and Google Classroom.
