This product is designed to develop literacy skills through the integration of the seven strands of the 2017 TEKS for ELAR. ThinkUp! also supports instruction in the 9 traits of critical thinking as defined by Mentoring Minds. Materials are available in English and Spanish.
The consumable student edition provides concise, organized instruction and practice focused on the ELAR TEKS. ThinkUp! ELAR organizes content in units, each highlighting a TEKS-based learning target and focusing on specific traits of critical thinking. Each unit in the student book contains five sections: Getting Started, Instruction, Assessment, Extension, and Reflection. STAAR-styled passages, questions, and essays comprise the majority of the student edition. Reading passages include literary and informational texts. Units also include reflection questions requiring students to write about their learning and thinking. Extension activities, projects, and Home Connections enhance student learning.
The teacher edition does not duplicate the student edition, but provides specific instructional guidance for each section in the student edition. Teacher resources include, answer keys, rubrics, Lexile analysis, and supplemental activities and interventions to support struggling students.
